Where to look for Fossils at East Wemyss?

(Searching for fossils at East Wemyss) - 2007

Look for fossiliferious shale with plant remains. Once you find a block, you can then work on it by splitting it finely. Most of these blocks can be found on the foreshore. Some of the blocks on the foreshore may not show any signs of plant remains since they have been washed off by the sea, splitting these may have a few surprises.

(Searching for fossils along the shoreshore) - 2007

Search along the foreshore for chunks of tree trunk. These can often be picked up and some of them can be in superb conditions and not too big!

Search the scree - 2007

Lastly, search the scree at the base of the cliff which has freshly been washed out!
